The overall process of the development of a wind project takes between 1.5 and 3 years. Based on an early start in 2004, ELANA Energy Management is currently in the position to offer a number of projects that are at such a stage of development that allows for construction to begin in 2011.

The experience of ELANA Energy Management in the field of wind energy begins with a pilot project in the town of Bulgarevo, which is situated in the Northeastern part of Bulgaria, in the municipality of Kavarna. The project consisting of one wind turbine VESTAS V39 with a capacity of 500 kW was developed and put into operation in November 2005. After almost two years of successful operation, the wind project was sold to an investor.

The gain in experience and “know how” from the pilot project, kick-started the development of several other wind projects in Southern Bulgaria, with project capacities varying from 20 MW to 100 MW.

Most of the above mentioned projects have onsite wind measurements conducted for a period of over 2 years that allow potential investors to evaluate the wind potential and the financial viability of the projects. The measurements were performed with calibrated equipment produced by NRG Systems (USA). Each measuring device has a detailed log book providing information about key events in the measurement process.

Extensive information about each single wind project can be found in our Project Pipeline.
